SATURDAY ACTION:
First Grade – Tough result for First Grade going down to Bankstown in a low scoring affair at Bankstown Oval. Ross Pawson (3/24) was the pick of the bowlers and was even on a hattrick at one stage whilst being supported by Toby Gray (2/36) and Tom Felton (2/47). Unfortunately, runs were hard to come by with captain Ben Davis (34) the lone Ranger to pass 30 as we were bowled out for 142.
Second Grade – It was once again the Anderson show in Second Grade, with John (80) and Daniel (90) combining for a 125 run stand. Some quick runs from Danul Dassanayake (55) helped steer the boys to a competitive 273 off their 50 overs at MTO. After taking a wicket off his first ball, Lachie Fisher (1/50) was superbly supported by Jack Cincotta (4/34) as the Rangers restricted Bankstown to 242 off their 50 overs and secured a 31 run win.
Third Grade – The winning streak for Third Grade continued on the weekend, with the boys coming away with a win in a close contest. Winning the toss and batting first, Adam Wigglesworth (42) and Lachlan Ford (32) held their own as wickets fell around them, leading the Rangers to 148. A crucial 4 wickets to Dan Stickland and some tight death bowling from Ben Randall (2/24 off 7) and Lachlan Ford (2/16 off 9) eventually saw Bankstown dismissed for 142 in 49 overs.
Fourth Grade – It was another clinical performance from our Fourth Grade men who also snagged a bonus point with their win against Bankstown. After being asked to bowl first at Asquith Oval, Jordan Fullagar (4/19 off 9) and Spencer White (2/12 off 9) had the opposition in all sorts, with Bankstown being bowled out for 101 after 45 overs. Utkarsh Somaiya (46*) showed his class once again and a clinical partnership with Jayden Camp (27*) secured a bonus point victory.
Fifth Grade – Fifth Grade returned to winning ways on the weekend at a lightning fast Grahame Thomas Oval. Jack Nati (4/42) and Gian Gill (3/29) were the pick of the bowlers with Bankstown eventually being bowled out for 204. With the bat, Brody Camp (91*) and Will Coffey (60*) made light work of the chase, chasing down 204 with 12 overs to spare.
Club Championship - As we reach the Round 10 mark of the NSW Premier Cricket season its time to have a look at where we sit on the Club Championship ladder. The Club has started strongly in the new year thanks to 9 out of a possible 11 wins in the men’s competition while our Green Shield boys have driven us to number 1 with 5 from 5. We now sit atop of the ladder 20 points clear. Plenty of work to be done to maintain this lead with Manly-Warringah right on our toes as we head into the pointy end of the season!
