ND’s would like to congratulate Ella Davidson on her 1st Grade debut for the club, receiving cap number 188.

On the back of a very consistent season in Brewer Shield and 2nd Grade, including two consecutive five-wicket hauls in the previous two games, Ella earned her opportunity in 1st Grade this week.

Ella bowled really well in her 7 overs on debut, marking a special milestone in her cricket journey.

It was a strong start to the last match of the regular season for most of our Men’s sides, who will now look to put the icing on the cake this week!

1st Grade
Bowling first on a good MTO wicket, the NDs bowlers grafted hard and long to keep Bankstown in check throughout the day. Spin twins Jonty Webb (3/42) and Chris Green (3/60) proved most effective, as the Rangers bowled the Bulldogs out for 233. Having to navigate a tricky 6-over period late in the day, the boys lost one wicket to finish 1/19 at stumps.

2nd Grade
2s won the toss and bowled first at Bankstown Oval, taking regular wickets as the day progressed. Jack Cincotta (3/34) was at his usual best, whilst Harry Campbell (4/38) stole the show to see our opponents bowled out for a modest 141. Looking to make a strong dent in the total before stumps, the Rangers got off to a reasonable start before a calamitous collapse found the boys reeling at 8/78 at stumps.

3rd Grade
Batting first on what was a trickier wicket than expected at Asquith, the boys grinded through the day to finish on top. Elijah Stead (66) was outstanding at the top of the order, setting the tone for the rest of the day. Skipper Nick Cheadle (65) showed his class once again through the middle of the day, guiding the boys to 8/251 at stumps.

4th Grade
Needing a win to secure a finals berth, 4s came out of the gate with intent on day 1. Bowling first, Lachlan Bailey (4/58) and Matthew Brown (2/27) led the way as the Rangers bowled Bankstown out for 146, before Jack Slater and Riley Mackay dug in to see the boys to stumps at 1/30 and in a very strong position.

5th Grade
Bowling first at Storey, it was the spinners who made inroads for the Rangers as the day progressed. Ulrich Vosser (4/40) and skipper Alex Perry (3/31) took regular wickets as Bankstown were bowled out for 121. Looking to move past the batting collapse from the previous round, Sam Brown (30*) and Perry (28) batted beautifully to guide the boys within 24 runs of victory, finishing the day 4/98.

1st Grade vs Bankstown
In our final game of the season, ND’s won the toss & elected to bat.
After losing an early wicket, our batters developed some solid partnerships throughout the innings - Claire McGuirk & Sophie Clune (49), Bex Tyson & Bella Mitchell (54). Our lower order also performed well, ensuring we batted out our 50 overs. With some disciplined spells, our bowlers kept the runs down & wickets falling, keeping us in the game. However, Bankstown managed to reach the target in the 45th over, 6 wickets down. A special mention to Bex Tyson, who once again, bowled exceptionally well, only conceding 25 runs from her 10 overs and was very unlucky not to be rewarded with any wickets. Since joining us after Christmas, Bex has not conceded more than 27 runs in any game from her 10 overs. Amazing consistency!! Despite the loss, the team showed discipline & fight to keep the match competitive!

2nd Grade vs Bankstown
Second grade turned up to Bankstown Oval for the last game of the season, against top of the table Bankstown. Some impressive bowling from the girls kept the wickets flowing, however a chance-less 131 from Bankstown’s opening bat was the glue for their score of 9/250. Shoutout to Olivia (3/50) and Trinity (2/41) who were the pick of the bowlers. A few solid starts from our top order had the girls in with a fighting chance (Makenzie 28, Sharon 16), before Bankstown began taking regular wickets, stopping any momentum. Special mention to brewer players Zara and Elyssa who delivered strong performances with the bat (18 & 29) and took it to the Bankstown attack. Positive signs for the future of women’s cricket at NDs!

In our final game of the season, ND’s won the toss & elected to bat.

🌳 Brewer Shield Team Spotlight 🌳

The NDs Brewer campaign began in July 2025 with a twice-weekly high performance academy led by Head Coach Mike Philips. The focus was clear from day one. Improve technical skills across batting, bowling and fielding, while building strong team culture.

This group never chased individual statistics. The priority was process, teamwork and accountability. The rewards came quickly.

The team broke a 609-day losing drought, secured their first win early in the season and remained competitive in all but one match. They finished 10th and defeated the ladder leaders in the final round. A remarkable turnaround, made even more impressive by the youth of the squad. At the start of the season, only one player was 16 or over, with Zara Hepplewhite leading superbly as captain.

Eighteen players represented NDs across the season. Several made their Brewer debuts, others earned selection in 2nd Grade, and three players, Maisie Miller, Olivia Mitchell and Ella Davidson, made their 1st Grade debuts.

The Players’ Player Award reflected the team’s culture. Votes were submitted confidentially after each game, recognising contributions beyond statistics. Fifteen of the eighteen players were recognised at least once, with ten acknowledged in more than half the matches.

Congratulations to Elyssa Bolger, Zara Hepplewhite, Isobella O’Connell and Amelia Moyles for consistent peer recognition, with Olivia Mitchell voted Players’ Player of the Year.

The season also saw Maisie Miller and Ella Davidson selected in the U16 NSW Country team, with several NDs players competing in the U15 NSW State Challenge.

The growth, resilience and camaraderie shown throughout the season made parents, coaches Brett Mitchell and Cass Rowlinson, and the wider ND female cricket community incredibly proud.

Brewer trials will take place in March, with off season academies already planned.

She had a great batting partnership of 142 with Ellysa Bolger to put NDs in a strong position and to help post their highest team batting total in over two years. Issy batted to her strengths with some great back foot punches and strong cover drives. In hot conditions, Issy’s innings was a fantastic display. Congratulations Issy!

Corey Miller headlines our Team of the Week after a brilliant century in tricky conditions on Day 1 of Round 15. After being sent in on a seamer friendly pitch, Corey showed great poise and shotmaking to lead First Grade while wickets fell around him throughout the innings, notching his second hundred of the season.

Third Grade had a fantastic win in a tightly fought contest. The batting innings was led brilliantly by Kyal Cruickshank who picked his moments to dominate around a grinding first innings effort. He featured in several important partnerships, notably with Johno Stuart who also made a vital contribution to the first innings total. Day 2 saw a marathon effort from Dan Stickland, who took vital scalps both early on and through the middle of the innings across a 28 over effort.

Daniel Anderson saw a return to form to anchor Second Grade’s batting innings, while Lachlan Bailey produced a counter attacking half century in Fourth Grade after an early collapse. Ed Byrom and Uri Vosser were both outstanding with the ball in Fifth Grade, and rewarded with economical three wicket hauls.

With 40 overs remaining, the Rangers dug in to bat out the day, Corey Miller (44) continuing his strong form.

Second Grade A tough day for Second Grade against a defiant Parramatta side. Seamers Lachlan Fisher (1/34) and Elijah Stead (1/40) made early inroads, but Parramatta batted through the day, passed the Rangers’ First Innings total and secured six points.

Third Grade A terrific Day 2 saw the Rangers claim six points and continue their strong run. Dan Stickland (4/69) led from the front, supported by Nicholas Apps (1/25) with control and precision. Brody Camp (2/7) proved the difference maker, taking key wickets at crucial moments to secure an important win.

Fourth Grade A tough outing for Fourth Grade as Parramatta secured the win. Skipper Dan Friedrich (3/25 off 8 overs) led the bowling effort, but Parramatta surpassed the Rangers’ First Innings total. Given 25 overs to bat, the Rangers dug in, with Alish Hirani (44*) the standout.

Fifth Grade Fifth Grade were unable to chase down Parramatta’s 140. Resuming with 120 required and 5 wickets in hand, Henry Abood (44) battled hard, but wickets fell quickly. The Rangers were bowled out for 89 in the 47th over.

The bowlers responded with tight spells and early wickets, led by Bex Tyson (2/10 off 10 overs, 5 maidens). The game went to the 50th over before Campbelltown passed the total with 2 balls to spare, 7 wickets down. A very close loss with plenty of fight shown.

2nd Grade
ND’s travelled to Thornton to face Greater Hunter Coast and were sent in on a grassy wicket. A solid start had them 3/72, building to 5/121 through Eliza, Mackenzie and Liv, before a lower-order collapse left 145 to defend.
Tight bowling in the first 10 overs and regular wickets kept ND’s in the contest. Ella Davidson followed last week’s five-wicket effort in Brewer with 5/35. The match tightened at 7/118, but Greater Hunter Coast’s lower order steadied to win.

Brewer
In the final game of the season, ND’s faced ladder leaders Blacktown. After a shaky 4/48, Isobel O’Connell and Elyssa Bolger produced a superb 132-run partnership, combining control with late acceleration.
In reply, the pace attack applied pressure before Eliza H (left-arm spin) and Elyssa Bolger (pace) combined to take 7 wickets in 6 overs. Blacktown were bowled out in the 21st over, sealing a 102-run win for The Rangers.
A strong finish to the Brewer season, with many highlights and plenty to look forward to in 2026–27.

2nd Grade
ND’s travelled to Thornton to face Greater Hunter Coast and were sent in on a grassy wicket. A solid start had them 3/72, building to 5/121 through Eliza, Mackenzie and Liv, before a lower-order collapse left 145 to defend.
Tight bowling in the first 10 overs and regular wickets kept ND’s in the contest. Ella Davidson followed last week’s five-wicket effort in Brewer with 5/35. The match tightened at 7/118, but Greater Hunter Coast’s lower order steadied to win.

Brewer
In the final game of the season, ND’s faced ladder leaders Blacktown. After a shaky 4/48, Isobel O’Connell and Elyssa Bolger produced a superb 132-run partnership, combining control with late acceleration.
In reply, the pace attack applied pressure before Eliza H (left-arm spin) and Elyssa Bolger (pace) combined to take 7 wickets in 6 overs. Blacktown were bowled out in the 21st over, sealing a 102-run win for The Rangers.
A strong finish to the Brewer season, with many highlights and plenty to look forward to in 2026–27.

Huge work to do for our Men’s sides this week, as all 5 grades hang in the balance after an eventful first day against Parramatta.

1st Grade
Losing a crucial toss and being put into bat on a tricky wicket, the Rangers found themselves in early trouble at 3/9. Corey Miller (110) led a fightback with important contributions from the middle and lower order to guide the boys to a total of 194. In response, Jordan Fullagar (2/37) delivered a powerful opening spell before Parramatta consolidated, reaching stumps at 3/114.

2nd Grade
Batting first at Old Kings, Daniel Anderson (80) and Jon Whealing (39) put together a strong partnership early in the day, before a collapse had 2s in trouble at 8/158. A valiant stand from Josh Bawcombe (33) and Lachlan Soles (19*) helped the Rangers to a total of 206, before Parramatta faced out a 14-over burst to finish 0/21 at stumps.

3rd Grade
Batting first, Jonathon Stuart (55) and Kyle Cruickshank (79) batted beautifully up top to set the Rangers up nicely despite losing two early wickets. A lower order collapse late in the innings saw NDs lose their last 6 wickets for just 24 runs, finishing with an under par 196. In response, NDs were unable to claim a breakthrough as Parra finished 0/23 at stumps.

4th Grade
4s found themselves in huge trouble early with the bat as they collapsed to 5/38 at Merrylands. Lachlan Bailey (58) and Arjun Singh (30) stepped up when needed to rescue the Rangers to a defendable total of 152. With the ball we struggled to make an impact early before Augie Rebase (1/8) struck in the last few overs of the day to hold Parra to 1/47 at stumps.

5th Grade
Bowling first at Storey, Ulrich Vosser (3/26) and Ed Byrom (3/21) led the charge as the Rangers managed to bowl Parramatta out for a modest 140. Facing a tricky 18 over period with the bat before stumps, things went south quickly for NDs collapsing to 5/27 at stumps, and leaving the boys with a huge task come Saturday morning.

Emily Humphreys was a standout, breaking a number of middle order partnerships, finishing with 3/39 from her 10 overs. With Sydney Uni needing 5 runs from the last over with only 1 wicket in hand, the final wicket was taken on the 3rd ball of the over, with ND’s taking the win by 3 runs. A very determined & disciplined effort from the team.

After a rocky start, NDs were sitting at 3/34 before heavy rainfall struck and the game was reduced to 26 overs per side. With 8 overs to bat, the girls managed to get the score up to 7/78. With the DLS calculator changing the target to 70 off 26 overs, Penrith batted with composure to reach the target in the 21st over. Trinity Newbury the pick of the bowlers with 2/17.

NDs won the toss and chose to bowl. Spin was bowled from one end, all innings from ball 1 and dominated the bat with 9 wickets combined. Our spinners Ella Davidson, Zara Hepplewhite and Eliza Holland bowled very well supported by tight pace bowling at the other end by Eve Bradey, Ellysa Bolger and Grace Clouten, who created constant pressure. Sydney were bowled out for 118 in the 41st over. Ella Davidson capitalised with a fantastic 5/18. In response, the NDs top order built strong partnerships and battled solidly to go past the total with plenty in the tank. Isobel O’Connell continued her great form with the bat with 62* well supported by Eliza Gray and Elke van’t Wel, with partnerships of 65 & 53, passing the total in the 35th over. A great team performance.

Mitchell came to the crease with the Rangers in a sticky spot at 3/95 and stemmed the pressure well initially. He then got into his work and swatted the Saints attack to all parts in a composed, yet meticulous, innings. Mitch’s knock featured 5 boundaries and 3 sixes and he once again combined with fellow batter Spencer White (83) in a mammoth 174 run stand. Mitch’s innings was truly match defining and allowed the Rangers to post a competitive 363 off 93 overs, a total which unfortunately the bowlers were not able to restrict with rain preventing any play on Day 2. Well done Mitch! Can he go back to back to back in Round 15….

Skipper Dan Friedrich wound back the years to dominate the bowling innings, taking 6 wickets while also drying up the runs ensuring St George could never get going in the chase. This was off the back of a monster 133 run partnership between Brody Camp and Riley Mackay, both of who batted with great control before accelerating later in the innings.

First Grade also saw a massive partnership, with Mitchell Crayn and Spencer White combining for a 174 run stand after coming together with the game well balanced. For Mitch this was his second hundred in as many matches, and fourth First Grade hundred for the club.

Cam Tunks (50) started well before Mitchell Crayn continued his outstanding form with 108 off 139 balls, including 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. Bowling first, the Rangers restricted the Saints to 8/169, led by Elijah Stead (4/35) and Nick Apps (1/22 off 10). Chasing 170, Nick Cheadle (60) and Kyal Cruickshank (34) fought hard, but the Rangers fell 12 runs short.

Fourth Grade
Batting first at Asquith Oval, Jack Slater (44) laid the platform before Riley Mackay (61) and Brody Camp (85) combined for a 130+ run partnership. The Rangers posted 5/279 before spin dominated, with Dan Friedrich taking 6/22 in an 85-run win.

Fifth Grade
Early wickets from Ed Byrom (2/32) and tight spells from Oscar Turner (3/11) and Arjun Singh (2/12) restricted the Saints to 141. Dash Ratnam (45) anchored the chase before Aiden McSweeney (37*) guided the Rangers home.

Cam Tunks (50) started well before Mitchell Crayn continued his outstanding form with 108 off 139 balls, including 5 boundaries and 3 sixes. With play not getting underway until 220pm due to rain, the game was reduced to 27 overs a side. ND’s won the toss & elected to bowl.
Our bowlers set up the win with some disciplined bowling. Tara French (3/20) & Sienna Eve (3/10) bowled 5 overs each, restricting the runs & taking the bulk of the wickets. Runs were hard to come by with some tight bowling from Bex Tyson (1/10) & Ava Drury (1/8) from their 6 overs, restricting Manly to 9/75. Our openers Claire McGuirk & Kate McTaggart went about their business straight away, putting on a 62 run partnership. Kirsten Smith & Kate then finished off the chase, passing the target in the 17th over. Kate finished on 43*, hitting 6 fours & a six. A great win in difficult conditions!

Second Grade
After being reduced to 21 overs a side, Manly won the toss and sent NDs into bat. The top order started strongly to have the score at 2-85, (Isobel 32, Olivia 30), before late boundaries from Hannah (17 off 12) boosted the score up to 6/121. NDs started strongly with the ball taking an early wicket, before Manly’s number three produced a chanceless innings and took them past the score 4 down with 2.4 overs to spare.

Brewer
In a very interrupted and rain affected game, NDs batted first on a damp wicket. The top order battled a tricky wicket and the team rallied to score 69 in reduced overs. The score was helped by good running between wickets. Manly lost an early wicket in reply. Following further rain delays, the match was abandoned. With many regular players not playing, Elyssa Bolger captained her first Brewer game, with Elke vice-captain - they did themselves and NDs very proud.

Chasing a big target of 310, 2nd grade needed their top order to step up, and Will Coffey was the man to do it. He came in during the first over but wasted no time displaying his attacking stroke play and putting the Sutherland Sharks bowlers under pressure. He dominated early, peppering all parts of the newly reopened Glenn McGrath Oval with 16 fours and two sixes. He brought up his ton off just 123 balls, with the team score on only 144, demonstrating his free-scoring ability. Unfortunately, the side lost wickets in clumps after Will’s dismissal, and only a 47-run 10th-wicket partnership brought 2nd grade within touching distance.

Josh McDowell scored his first century for the club in an agonising one-run loss in 4th grade. Entering at 4/32 chasing 223, Josh had a big task ahead of him. From the outset, he showed grit and determination to see off the new-ball threat that the top order had fallen victim to. He found a willing partner in Alish Hirani (40), as the pair put on 87 runs and edged closer to the target. However, wickets started tumbling at the other end, yet Josh was able to up the ante and find the boundary with ease. He brought up his ton with a six, with the team nine down and needing just two runs to win. Unfortunately, despite his remarkable effort, he was dismissed the next ball and 4th grade were all out for 221.
