At the 100th Annual General Meeting of Northern District Cricket Club held on Monday, 7 July 2025, the club proudly elected two new Life Members: John Cumming and Steve Taylor, both outstanding contributors to the NDCC legacy across playing, leadership and long-term support.
John Stratton Cumming Life Membership Nomination
John Cumming commenced with NDCC in the 1958/59 season and played for the Club for a further 25 years. In that time he took 449 wickets at 20.16, bowling off-spin and scored 4040 runs at 16.90 with a highest score of 94 not out.
John made his first grade debut on 9 November 1963 against StGeorge DCC at Waitara Oval. He is first grade cap number 200.
John Cumming served on the Club Committee from the 1971/72 season until the 1977/78 season and again from the 1979/80 season to the 1980/81 season – a total 9 years. Interestingly, John was a member of the Club’s Committee during its 50th season.

Steve Taylor Life Membership Nomination
Stephen James Taylor’s playing career with NDs started back in 1980 … just a mere 45 years
ago! He was a member of our Green Shield side in that year. Steve was travelling well
through the grades as a batsman until a nasty blow to the head shortened his career just 6
years later. Steve also served some time on the committee at that time.
In 2009, Steve reconnected with the Club as a major sponsor. Through his company, Total
Construction, Steve’s financial support has been invaluable and has helped build the club
into one of the benchmark clubs in NSW if not the country. Steve was made a Patron of the
Club in 2016 and thankfully still is!
Steve has always been a great team man, a very generous man, the keenest cricketer ever
and a true NDCC Club man.

A Century of Cricket and a Legacy of Leadership
As NDCC celebrates its Centenary year, we proudly honour John Cumming and Steve Taylor as Life Members, two individuals whose contributions have helped shape the foundation and future of our club.
Their service, commitment and passion continue to inspire generations of cricketers.
