RANGER RESULTS

Two competitive performances by 1s and PGs in the first round run chases.. but no wins.

Some very exciting T20 results in the last week ... 4 wins! Great victories to 1st Gde over Nth Sydney (Addy Sherriff 67, Chris Green 55, Tom O’Connell 37*, Nikhil Thokala 3 wkts & 2 each to Jonty Webb and Tom O’Connell) and Wests (Corey Miller 50*, Jack Cincotta 4wkts & 2 to Jonty). These wins move NDs into a semi Final game on 11th October at MTO.

2nd Gde victorious over Mosman with spinners Harry Campbell and Lachie Bartlett taking 4 wickets each to dismiss Mosman for 102 runs (chasing NDs 124).

3rd Gde chased down Mosman’s 148 runs in an absolute thriller at MTO. Requiring 6 to win off the last 2 balls (9 wkts down). Matt Cole smashed a 6 off the second last ball.

4th Gde. Lost a very close one in 4s. 33 runs to Riley McDowell and 3 kts to Aiden McSweeny.

5th Gde overtook Mosman’s 118 total for the loss of 6 wickets. Milton Lolis scored a quick 39 and captain Will Trevett knocked up 24. Zac Rapa snared 3 wickets.

“Ava” good Year!

A Breakout Year for Ava Drury This grant follows a succession of major achievements for the emerging young talent during the 2026 season:

• Basil Sellers Scholarship: In July 2026, Ava was announced as a 2026/27 Basil Sellers Scholar through the Cricket NSW Foundation. This program provides financial aid, elite facility access, and mentorship to transition top pathway prospects into professional cricket. [1, 2, 3]

• Country Youth Female Player of the Year: She was named the Kookaburra Youth Female Player of the Year at the 2025–26 Country Cricket Awards following dominant domestic campaigns. [1]

• National and International Selections: Ava earned selection in the Australian Under- 19 squad for their tour of Sri Lanka and a tri-series in Brisbane, while also landing a spot in the Cricket NSW 2026-27 Female Pathways squads.

Have you ever wondered how our 3 grounds facilities get cleaned at the end of each season or how all the kitchen items, the portable scoreboards, the stumps and sponsors banners etc get back from Asquith Oval and Storey Park to MTO storeroom ... and then back again at the beginning of the season?

The answer is “volunteers”, or Supermen like Noel Moig, Simon Trowell and Geoff Witt.

Greg Briggs joined the Umpiring ranks a few years ago, umpiring mainly in Newcastle & on the Central Coast. He has now been given the Northern District v Parramatta 4th Grade game at Asquith Oval on the 10th of October.

It’s to coincide with the 50 year anniversary to when Briggsy was graded by ND’s as a 14 year old in 1976/77, playing 4th Grade at Asquith, under the captaincy of the legendary Ian Fraser ... 2 years later captaining the winning Green Shield team. Photos from the past ...
