The annual NDCC Presentation Night was held at the RSL on 18th April 2026. One hundred and twenty people joined in the celebrations for another very successful season:
Major award winners were:
Mitch Crayn: Bill North Memorial Award for Club Person of the Year (Mens).
Cass Rowlinson: The Smith Family Award for Club Person of the Year (Womens).
Addison Sherriff: Neil Marks Cup for Mens Club Player of the Season.
Kate McTaggart: Denise Annetts Cup for Womens Club Player of the Season.
Each Grade Captain gave a short chat about the season and introduced the achievement award for each grade. Alex Perry (5th grade captain) kicked off with a great comedy routine that set the scene for those captains that followed … and the entertainment kept coming! MC, Chris Elder, had some stiff competition.

Before we get to the award winners in detail and the pics of the night, there is a story to tell … A milestone of significance …
There are many ingredients that come together in making a strong and successful cricket club. At the top of the list there is good coaching, good facilities, strong captains and adherence to the laws of the game and the Spirit of Cricket.
All of these things don’t magically fall into place. It takes an active, dedicated and happy squad of volunteers to create such an environment …
To borrow a line from the movie, Field of Dreams …“Build it and ‘they’ will come!”
In this case, ‘they’ are premierships and a lot of good memories, and they came in spades. This is the icing on the cake.
At the Presentation Night on 18th April, Life Member Jerry Hook, announced his retirement as President. It has been an incredibly successful 8 years in regard to the “ingredients”…. and the “icing”!
Jerry has navigated the Club through Covid, the post-covid complexities involved with a $9m construction at Mark Taylor Oval, and the 100 year celebrations. The committee plays a part, but Hooky was alwaysin the front line. He led the way, through rain, hail and shine, to ensure a very bright future for the Northern District Cricket Club.
I’m sure there will be more said about this man before (and after) the official date of retirement at the AGM on 22nd July 2026.
In the meantime, let’s have a squiz at the Prezzo Night! …

Dave started his NDs journey in 2003/4 season when he was selected in Green Shield at the age of 13. The end of season Annual Report had this to say …
“This guy has all the makings of going a long way, if he desires. David showed leadership and maturity beyond his years. His enthusiasm and confidence rubbed off on to everyone else in the team. With another 2 years of Greenies there is no doubt that he will produce something special. He is a born leader and a pleasure to be around.”
Well, they got that right! Dave ended up notching up close to 9000 runs (9 centuries), taking 107 wickets, captaining 1 st grade, winning premierships, doing some coaching and remains to this day … “a pleasure to be around.”
Congratulations David Lowery on a fantastic cricketing career. I know you will continue to stay close to the club and enjoy future celebrations! More to come …
